AMENDED ORDER OF THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY COMMISSION OZARK, MISSOURI DATE ISSUED: Januarv 22, 2009 _ SUBJECT: Imposition of a one-quarter CIA) of one percent sales tax for Central Dispatching for Emergency Services WHEREAS, pursuant to the Section 190.335, Revised Statutes of Missouri, a sales tax not to exceed one percent (1%) is authorized for the purpose of providing central dispatching of fire protection, emergency ambulance services, including emergency telephone services, and other emergency services; and WHEREAS, Christian County 911 Emergency telephone services are currently supported through a telephone tax tariff under Section 190:305, Revised Statutes of Missouri; and WHEREAS, Nixa 911 Emergency telephone services are currently supported through a telephone tax tariff; and WHEREAS, the Christian County and Nixa telephone tariff tax is insufficient to adequately provide funding for 911 central dispatching for emergency services; and WIIEREAS, the Christian County Commission believes a sales tax of one-quarter (M) of one percent (1%) sales tax to replace the telephone tariff tax is vital and necessary to provide appropriate funding for the operation and consolidation of the Nixa 911 and the Christian County 911 System into one Christian County-wide 911 System; and -- WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 190.335, Revised Statutes of Missouri the Christian County Commission does hereby direct the following ballot language be submitted to the voters to authorize the Commission to impose a sales tax in the amount of one-quarter (1/1) of one percent (1%). NOW, THEREFORE, on this 12thday of January, 2009, at a duly called meeting ofthe Christian County Commission, after public notice, and in open session, upon Motion made by Commissioner Bill Barnett , seconded by Commissioner Tom Huff , and Presiding Commissioner Grubaugh voting in favor, the Christian County Commission did vote to impose a sales tax on all sales subject to taxatiqn under the provisions of Sections 144.040 to 144.525, Revised Statutes of Missouri for -the purpose of providing central dispatching of fire protection, emergency ambulance services, including emergency telephone services and other emergency services in lieu of the telephone tariff tax provided by Section 190.305 Revised Statutes of Missouri. 1 IT IS FURTHER ORDERED the imposition ofthe one-quarter (14) of one percent (1%) sales tax shall not become effective unless approved by a majority of the votes cast on this proposition in accordance with Section 190.335, Revised Statutes of Missouri. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED the Christian County Clerk shall forthwith cause this proposition to be submitted to voters at the April 7,2009 election. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED the ballot submission shall be substantially in the following form: "Shall the County of Christian impose a County sales tax of one-quarter 01) of one percent (1%) for the purpose of providing central dispatching of fire protection, emergency ambulance service, including emergency telephone services, and other emergency services in lieu of and to replace the current Nixa 911 and Christian County 911 telephone tarifftax?
